I'm off for the next two weeks. Yay! My vacation didn't start too well: my indoor-only cat, Toast, somehow got out into the garage and pulled the metal grate off of the one hole in the garage wall. My mom and I walked all over the neighbor hood, twice, looking for him. I couldn't even sleep the night he was missing. Then, last night (or this morning, however you want to look at it) I hear a meow, opened the door to the garage, and he walked right back in! He hasn't left my side since. I'm so glad he's home.

Today's Halloween. My brother was supposed to get married today and there was to be a costume part at my house, but he got his hours slashed a few weeks agao and they ended up canceling the wedding until finaces are better. So, no plans tonight. And I had three different costumes to choose from! *LOL* But, since I don't feel great today I guess it's worked out in my favor this time.

Something weird, in honor of the holiday: Most of you know that I'm Pagan. I had on my pentagram, since today is a religious holiday for us, and a few "hauted" rings. I started feeling really faint/lightheaded, so I went upstairs to lie down. I took off the costume (a midevil type priestess costume, like a red crushed velvet dress with a big hood/sleeves) I had on, so I was in a sports bra and panties, and I lied down for a while. When I got up I still didn't feel good, so I decided to take a bath. Now, I have the master bedroom, and in my bathroom there's only a shower, so I had to leave my room to take a bath. I have a full wall of mirrors and another huge mirror sitting up against another wall; I saw myself in just bra and panties, and there wasn't a mark on my body. I went into the hall bathroom, took off what I had on, and started the bath running. I turned around, caught sight of myself in the mirror, and was more than a little surprised to see a six inch, bright red cross imprinted on the outside of my right thigh! It was a perfect cross! I don't know where it could have come from, I didn't have anything on that could have caused the pattern, and it wasn't there when I'd been in my room minutes before. It was really imprinted deep in my flesh, I couldn't rub it off/out, and none of the surrounding skin was affected (I'm pretty pale, in case you don't know, so it really stood out) at all. It was really weird. I called my mom up and had her take a look at it, and she couldn't figure it out either. She just told me to put my pentagram back on and forgett about it *LOL* I'm sure there's a logical explanation, I don't think I've got an undead religous zelott living in my house marking up the heathens or anything, but it was still a little odd and more than a little unsettling.

I'm gonna watch some good (or bad, depending on how you look at it) horror films and plenty of haunted specials and head to bed I guess. Hope you guys all have a happy holiday!

Just felt like posting to say that I'm still here. I use FaceBook a bit more than LJ lately because it is a bit quicker, but once I start writing again I'll be back on LJ more. Promise.

Nothing new to most of you, but I'm sick. A lot. I just spent most of the past five days in bed. I'm feeling a little bit better today, which is good, but I've got to go back to work tomorrow while not feeling 100%. We'll see how it goes.

On the up side, I had stuff on my DVR from March of this year, so I needed to do some catching up. What's better to keep your mind off an achey body than a whole lot of TV to watch, right? I watched the rest of last season's "Glee" that I hadn't caught up on, and although my damn DVR ate the season premire, I'm all caught up for next week. Wasn't this past Tuesday's a tearjearker? I caught up on "Boondocks", which I didn't really think was the best of the series, but it was mostly funny anyway. I also watched all of S1 of "FullMetal Alchemist: Brotherhood", which I loved. Pretty, and amusing, and just as good as the first series. (Maes' death makes me cry everytime, crybaby that I am *LOL*) I can't wait to see S2. I really need to catch up on the manga too. I also got partially caught up on the newest season of "Doctor Who". The stories have been interesting enough, and I've got nothing against Amy exactly, but I just can't seem to get into the newest Doctor. Am I the only one? Oh, and I finally finished "Spartacus: Blood and Sand". I thought, over all, it was a pretty good series. Too bad there won't be a second season now that their lead's cancer has come back. A real shame. Sitting in front of the TV (or laying, as it was) may not be the most productive way to spend a week, but it helped to pass the time.

I also finished another run of "Fable 2". When I finally hooked up internet to my XBox I couldn't combine my offline account with my XBox Live account, so I scrapped everything and started fresh. Can't wait to pick up my order of the special edition of "Fable III" later this month!

Guess I'll try to get to bed early and get in a little more rest before work tomorrow. Hope all of you are doing well. I'll try to post again soon. TTFN!

Subject:When did I get old?
Time:11:39 pm

I can't believe Sunday is my 30th birthday. 30?!? When did I get so old. (Yes, I know, 30 isn't really that old, but I still feel like I just graduated highschool yesterday.) On the up side, it's a paid holiday at work. I love getting my birthday counted as a holiday *LOL*

We're getting the house slowly but surely painted. We've got a dark green accent wall, most of the downstairs and hallway are a pale sage-ish green, and grey trim for everything. The kitchen accent wall is in pumpkin. My bedroom is purple. I like it. Some of the bathrooms will eventually get a repaint, and my study and my parents' bedroom still need color, but it's getting there.

I've been tired all weekend. I went shopping Tuesday, but I just stayed in the house Wednesday and Thursday. Watched "True Blood" with Mom. Am I the only one that felt kind of bad for Talbot, since he hadn't actually done anything to Eric? And Russell's tv broadcast? If the news were that interesting I might start watching it more *LOL* Can't wait for next week! I've also started playing "Kingdom Hearts Re: Chain of Memories". I know, I'm way behind with KH games, but I played KH, KH2, and CoM on DS, I've just never gotten around to this one. I think there's another one too? 365/7 or something? Anyway, this one is fun, if a little simplistic. So pretty! I hope there's a KH3 sometime soon. Between this and a replay of DA:O (I haven't even started the DLCs, I just love DA:O enough that it keeps me well occupied.)

Gotta go back to work tomorrow. Sleepy. I think I'll head off to bed early. Just hope I can sleep.

So, I remembered yesterday that I'd never finished playing Fable II. Since we hooked up the XBox in the living room so I could play Rock Band with more space (I've got the drums and guitar, and my study just isn't big enough for all of that!) I realized that I should finish it. The good news is that, as it turns out, I was very nearly done. Fifteen minutes or so and I was at the final battle. Bad news is, the ending was so anti-climatic that I wasn't even sure if it was over until the credits rolled! Serioulsy! Worst ending ever. Really. But, even though it was a big let down in the end, I'm still really looking forward to the release of part three. Anybody else agree with me on the epic fail that is the ending of Fable II?

In other news, my parents have wanted to get a great dane for years. We had one when I was a kid, but he turned way overprotective towards me and we had to get rid of him. So, recently they found a great dane rescue group here in Vegas. They had talked about maybe going to see one soon. Then, tomorrow, when I get off the bus after work, there was a 150 lbs black and white creature waiting with my mom! WTF?! So glad I was consulted on this, considering it's my house and I pay the majority of the bills, and I'm still freaked out by the psycho dog that thought I was his propterty as a kiddo. I was pretty weirded out last night, but she's such a softie that I can't stay that way. This dog is a two year old purebreed with champions on both sides, she's harliquinn with her ears done. She also thinks she's a lapdog, perhapse owing to the fact that she grew up with chiwawas (I know that's mispelled, I can't be bothered to look up the correct spelling) along with her fellow danes *LOL* She's about 150 lbs and apparently she's actually a little under weight! She seems pretty sweet too. Her original name was Lilly, which is a name that I actually like, but Mom doesn't like that name. She wanted to call it LadyBug, but I just won't have a giant dog named lady bug in my house! Tonight I thought of calling her Dezzy, short for Desdemona. From "Hamlet"? Since she's a great DANE? Get it? *LOL* I thought I was pretty clever with that one, until I remembered that Desdemona is from "Othello" and Ophelia is from "Hamlet". Now I don't know what to call her. Any suggestions?

I've got a free suite at the PH Towers (the timeshare behind Planet Hollywood) tomorrow night. I got a cute new dress, no plans, and desire to get into trouble ;) We'll see what happens *LOL*

Got a nice big package from UPS today. Used my bonus points at work to order Rock Band for my Xbox 360. Awesomely fun! The easy mode of the solo guitar seems easier than the easy mode on Guitar Hero, but I'm not complaining. However, the drums were a lot harder than I'd expected. The singing, I knew I couldn't do, and I actually scored higher than I'd thought I would. Mom wants to play tomorrow when I get home. Should be good for a laugh *LOL*

The heat is really getting to me. I'm exhausted by the time I get to the bus, and I'm ready for bed when I get home. On the up side, I'm spending less money because it's too damn hot to go outside on my three day weekends. 107+ most days is just too extreme! If I didn't have my family here (my father is disabled, and my mother takes care of him, so they need my income to survive) and didn't need me, and if I hadn't just bought a house, I would so leave for somewhere where it rains more and is hot less. I'm not suited to this weather at all!

I love my new work schedual. Three days off every week is great.

Love my Kindle too. I've read a lot more books, because it's easier to bring my little Kindle with me than to drag around hardbacks and going to the bookstore all the time. There's not even a bookstore nearby, so this is easier. I'm reading the third of the Southern Vampires books right now. Cute series, even if it's not the all time best vampire series I've ever read.

I went to see "Predators" a few weeks back. Loved it! It was exactly what it promised to be, which was a violent action flick with no real plot or character development. Perfect for a fun summer movie.

Spent all day today inside catching up on "True Blood" with my mom. (*LOL* Not really a mother/daughter show, but who cares, we both love it!) I've seen all of seasons one and two now, and I'm only missing the very newest episode of season three. It's so campy, and dark, and silly, and fun... not to mention sexy. I'm so crushing on Eric ;) Mom prefers Bill. I thoguht season two was more enjoyable than season one (I think I'm in the minority there though?) and I'm totally into season three. Loved Godric, wish he'd had more scenes... and hadn't done what he did at the end. I admit it, I cried. I laugh almost every time Jason is on screne, if only because I'm originally from a small town, and he reminds me of some of the guys I went to highschool with. (He has a great ass though, I don't remember too many of those in school.) I love Pam's snarkyness. And, is it just me, or does this show have an unusual number of extremely attractive people for me to drool over? Eric, Pam, Jessica, Bill, Sam, Jason... Hell, even Lafayette's pretty hot. Damn! I feel like my hormones are in overdrive when I watch it sometimes *LOL* I appreciate the equality in the amounts of nudity also; with most shows it's just the women getting naked most of the time, so I'm gald to see the guys do it so often. I know some of you watch it too, so I wonder, am I the only one who thinks Sookie is the least interesting part of the show? Anyway, I've got to watch last week's episode, then I'm all caught up. Finally. Yay!

My parents want to adopt a great dane doggie. I was terrorized by one when I was a kid (okay, so he actually terrorized my parents and was overprotective of me, but that's not the point) so I'm not wild about the idea, but she does sound sweet. I usually like male pets, but this is a two year old harliquinn purebreed 150 pound female dane. Any ideas for names guys? I still want a minpin, but it looks like this one will be joining the family first.

I know, I've gone MIA again. Again. I used to be so good about updates too. Sorry. Good news is, I start a new schedual tomorrow that only has me working 32 hours (by choice) with three days off. I should be better about updating after that starts. And I should actually get some writing done too.

Other than the new schedual, I guess I don't have much to say. I've caught up on some of my DVR stuffs. Finally watched David Tennant's final "Doctor Who". Bawled like a tiny little baby cry-baby. As expected. I've watched the first episode of the new season, but so far I'm not loving the new Doctor. I'll give it some time though, since I wasn't a big fan of the change from 9 to 10, but by the time it was all over I loved 10. We'll see how it goes with 11. My mom and I also watched the first season of "True Blood". Loved it! So far, I'm a bigger fan of the tv series than the actual books, but I'm only on the second book and haven't started the second season, so who knows if that'll stay the same. Season 2 is on its way in the mail, so I should be able to put my new, longer weekends to good use ;)

Bought Guitar Hero for my PS2. I know, I'm late to the party. Looks fun. I also got a few games for my XBox, so I forsee a huge amount of wasted time in front of the game tv in the near future. Then again, isn't that what summers are for?

It's way too hot here in Vegas. It's over 105-110 degrees every day. Sucks. I can't wait for summer to be over, and it's only really just begun. Damn.

Gotta go to work tomorrow... sending you all love and good luck for the week/weekend.

Haven't posted lately. I've just been so sick. I caught a really bad flu a few weeks ago, I was sick for a week, weak and wobbly, and then I thought I was over it. I had a free night at Planet Hollywood (a hotel/casino on the Las Vegas Strip) and spent the night there. When I woke up I was violently ill. I made it home (I hate taking the bus in 110 weather) and slept for a full day, and stayed in bed all the next. The next day I had to go to work, but I got so sick about an hour and a half in that they had to call in an EMT to help me. She said between the heat exhaustion and the possibility of a new flu that's going around when my immune system is still recovering from the last one, it just hit me. And hit me hard. They gave me the rest of that day and all of the next off. I went back to work for a day, felt okay, but then the next day I felt so drained that I just couldn't do it. I took the day off after two hours that day, and I've been in bed for the last four days. And I still don't feel great! Hell, maybe I've spent too much time in bed at this point. I just wish I felt better when I got up. I've got a three day week at work this time. Hopefully it's not too much for me to handle.

Let's see, now that I've bitched a bit, let's see what I've got to say that's good: The free trip to Planet Hollywood was fun. One of the benefits of working in the casino industry is that I get free rooms at our properties from time to time. We took over Planet Hollywood (formally the Aladdin) a few months back, so we got rooms so we could take a look around. They upgraded me for free to a mini-suite. It was nice, gorgeous view, I just wish the oversized tub had been a jacuzzi. What sort of hotel does a full renovation, puts in a giant tub that should fit at least three people, and not put jets in it? That's my only real complaint though. It was a pretty room. And I don't think anything there is what actually made me sick, so I'd recommend the place, even if they weren't part of my company.

I got a Kindle recently! Yay! I love having so much info on my one little pad. I won't completely give up "real" books, but I've spent too much money on books that turned out to be complete crap lately, so at least now I can just delete them instead of wasting space on my shelves. Right now I'm reading the first Sookie Stackhouse vampire book, if only because I sort of want to start watching "True Blood" and I wanted to start with the books (even if I hear they diverge greatly after a certain point) first. Not bad, so far. I don't love them (yet) as much as I do LKH's Anita Blake books, but they're not what I thought they were either. Anybody else a fan? I'm just about done with this one, according to my Kindle. Not sure what to read next. Maybe the second book.

We're trying to buy a car. Not having much luck yet. I just can't handle 110, waiting for the bus, and it's not much better at night. I'll have to learn to drive too. Wish me luck and stay off the streets *LOL*

Hey guys. How's life? I've been throwing up for the last couple of hours, so I'm keeping this week's post short.

I got a Kindle. Awesome! My rationalization for buying one was that I'll save money in the long run by reading the 200+ ebooks that I already have on my hardrive instead of buying lots of new books. Plus, I got a great deal: $175 for a Kidle v2 in perfect condition, a $35 leather case, two book lights, and all of the cords and extra power sources that it needs. I love it.

This week work has had me pretty pissed off. I got written up (well, just a verbal note to file, but it's still in writting) for being rude to a guest. The reason I signed the paper was that I was rude, but only someone who really knows me could have noticed that. Everything that I said was correct, and I was sickeningly polite, but the guest was apparently a high roller (I looked at his play, he's not that much of a big spender) and felt that I was "lecturing" him for telling him to have his player's card number ready so that I could look him up. Oh, forgive me for not knowing who you are and where you live the second I heard your voice! F*uck you!!! The guy had an attitude from the second he got on my line, and I did my best to help him, and if he didn't like the way I did it I don't think that should reflect poorly on me so long as I did everything that I'm supposed to do. Right? The one thing that my supervisor said she thought I did wrong, which was saying "Please remember next time to have your Total Rewards card handy when you call if you'd like to take advantage of your personal discounts, it'll save you a lot of time and hassle in the future," is something that I say in almost every call she's ever listened to of me. And she's never once said I shouldn't say it. So, I'm not so much upset about the fact that my supervisor and her bosses didn't like my attitude, but the fact that they can't really tell me what I did wrong. She let me listen to the rest of the call, after I transfered the guy, when he started complaining. He said "I'm glad I got transfered to you, the bitch that I was on the line with was busting my wallnuts over not having my card. What the f*ck was her problem?" and all I could think was, 'hell no, I wasn't busting your wallnuts. Trust me, you'll know when I'm busting your wallnuts, and it would be a hellofa lot less plesant that what you just got.' Then, right after I sign off on this BS, I get my score for the month. What they do, to score us, is take three random calls and they grade them. The average of the three is your score for the month. My score? 108% Yup, you read that right, I'm better than perfect. My three calls were something like 103%, 109%, 105%. And I'm at at least 98% every month, and I always have been, for the last (almost) four years! I swear, if I had anywhere else to go that would pay as much as I make I'd so be out of there. I really don't need this kind of asshattery in my life.

On a very sad note (at least to my checking account) I've already spent almost all of the $8000 that was in my bank account this time last week. But, I've paid back my Granny for all of the money she leant me for the house, I've paid off two and a half credit cards (I'll be able to cancel three of them by the end of the month), I've mostly remodled the two upstairs bathrooms (which I need to do to get $2000 back from my house sale), and I have $1600 put aside for a car. I almost got a car today, but they'd sold the one we wanted. The money will go back in my savings account until I find a new one, but I'm counting the money as spent since it's already got a use. I just can't believe that I spent so much money so fast, even if it was all mostly responsible spending. I doubt I'll ever see that much money at once ever again.

My old apartment complex is trying to collect almost $1000 from me. It's all BS! They say I didn't give them proper notice, when I'd actually filled out three different 30-day notices, and eventually ended up staying past my lease. Then they're trying to say I need to pay for new carpets when the carpets had been bad when I moved in over two years ago. I even told them they needed to repair some places where the carpet had come up on the day I moved in, but they never fixed it in over two years! There was a hole in the wall, but it was there because the walls were shoddily made and when I tried to push a pushpin into it with nothing but my hand it went all the way through the wall and made an almost fist sized hole! Again, I told them about it, but they never fixed it. And, as far as I'm concerned, I was constructivly evicted because of the all of the robberies that were going on nightly that the complex did nothing to stop and the fact that the building was not up to code and therefore my apartment was routinly overheated to the extent that it made me sick. Plus, they never did fix the airconditioner, yet they expect me to pay up when I would have been forced to leave even if I hadn't bought a home? Hell no! Besides, I paid almost $700 as a deposit and something like $250 per cat (I have two) as a pet deposit. None of which I got back. So, no, they're not getting a penny out of me. Ever.

I did have some fun this past Friday. I went to First Fridays, our local arts district's street fair. It was a lot of fun. I saw some really cool (and some hideous) art, I almost bought quite a few pieces, I went through some lovely antique shops, I listened to several really good live bands and singers, plus I spent a while laughing at an improv comedy act. I even signed a petition to put marajuna leaglization on the ballot. The guys gathering the signatures were pretty cool. I was exhausted by the end of it though, four hours on my feet, lost in buildings that I didn't even realize were as huge as they were. The funny thing is, I wait for the bus every day and every night in front of the same buildings that the art was shown in, and this was the first time I've ever been inside of them. I had a lot of fun, and if I can get another first Friday (it's held the first Friday of every month, in case you hadn't figured that out yet) off then I'd love to go again. Plus, it's at night, so I don't have to worry too much about heat and sunburns.

I've still been having trouble sleeping. Most nights I can't fall asleep or stay asleep, but then the other day I fell asleep about 5am and didn't wake up until 7.30pm! Then, I got up for a few hours before falling back asleep, then waking up again at 11.30 and again at 1am. I just can't win as far as sleeping goes.

Today I fell while walking through a parking lot and damn near broke my ankle. Again. I tried walking it off, and I think that helped, but now it's swollen and throbbing. I just hope that it'll be okay in the morning.

I did something yesterday that I didn't think I'd ever do. I watched "Twilight". I tried reading the books, thought they were some of the most poorly written childish drivle that I'd ever read, but there are so many fans of the books and the movies at work that I can't seem to get away from it. And, when I mention my opinion of the books the answer is always to see the movie. So, when I saw that it was on and I had nothing else to do, I decided to give in. If only so that next time I can say, "I did. And both the book and the movies suck." Well, I guess that's not exactly true. The movies were nowhere near as awful as the books; I mean, how could they be? Nothing's that bad. I've been a vampire fan for a very, very long time. And I've seen literally hundreds, if not a thousand or more, vampire movies of every variety. I have to say that I've seen worse, certainly, but I've also seen a lot better. The acting was wooden, the plot was flimsy, and overall it was just forgettable and uninspiring. I'm not sure how these books and the movies have become such a huge cultural phenomenon. I just don't get it.

Speakig of vampires, I'm thinking of finally watching "Tru Blood". I have afterelton.com as my homepage, and they mention it so often that I already feel like I watch it *LOL* See, I once read a short story from the series of books that the show is based on, and I wasn't really impressed. But, after everything that I've heard about it from friends and on the net, I'm starting to think that I might enjoy both the show and the books. That is, if I can find the time. Anybody else watch this show or read the books? Am I wasting my time or am I in for a treat?

Speaking of TV (because I'm way more of a homebody that is healthy) I can't believe that I've been watching "Desperate Housewives". The show is pretty lame, but you all know that I can't resist watching John Barrowman, any chance I get. I've enjoyed it, even if I've used my DVR to fast forward through some of the parts that he's not in *LOL* I'm loving the new season of "Boondocks" on AdultSwim. I've missed that show, and I wish it weren't so long inbetween seasons of some of my favorite adult cartoons. Everything else on my DVR (the new season of "Doctor Who", "FullMetal Alchemist: Brotherhood", the last few episodes of "Spartacus: Blood and Sand", the final few episodes of BBC's "Robin Hood", the Tennant/Stewart version of "Hamlet", the newest seaso of "Heros", and a few dozen miscellaneous movies that I'll probably never watch) is just sitting there waiting to be watched. I just don't ever seem to find time to watch them, or to do much of anything else either. I seem to only work, travel on the bus, and sleep (or try to) these days. I don't know what's wrong with me.

The house is starting to look more like a house. The bathrooms are being renovated, and they're freshly painted. My bedroom is mostly painted, although I won't move in until the bathroom is done. It'd get done a lot faster if I had more money, but it's getting done one step at a time. I just wish I could get my bedroom and study straightened out, and some furnature in to the rooms, because I'd love to get back to writing and gaming. I miss them both, a lot. I haven't finished so much as a short story in forever (although I keep getting great reviews for my older work, which makes me feel great) and I still haven't completed a run through of Dragon Age: Origins.

I'm feeling sick again. So, I'm off to get some rest. It's back to work again tomorrow. 'Night!
